Donโt be overwhelmed, although kanji is difficult, it DOES get easier ๐ค For those of you that are just starting out in Japanese, check out Rosetta Stone ๐

I only knew water, tree, and gold. Half of my family is Japanese, but they never taught me anything that would be helpful. I know I know more but only when I panicking in Japan.
ใใใใจใใๅ ็
Chinese being my native language, I recognize all of the kanji in this lesson. However, I still need to mentally map ๆ็ซๆฐดๆจ้ๅๆฅ to each day of the week. ๐
Could you do more of these?
U just reminded me that I used to know 1-100 and now I donโt know any๐๐
My fav symbol is the one for "Ultra" it looks so cool.
Holy shit it's Reina!
When you get the time can you make a video explaining the currency? I'm hoping to go there after cov-19 is over! Love your videos and I'm sorry for your loss!
Loved the video.
Do you have a linguistics degree (or similar training)? This video really reminded me of sitting at the college bar with my dad and his linguistics and East Asian languages professor/ grad student friends.
Regardless, I think this is a great presentation for people starting to learn the language.
While I didn't know the pronunciation of any of the kanji, I knew a number of the meanings as I've been learning Mandarin for a little over a year now.
i am currently studying Japanese. the only way i remember monday as getsuyobi (ๆๆๆฅ) is by remembering the first thing Kurosaki Ichigo (from Bleach) learn his bankai name getsuga tensho.
Hey would you make this a series.
when you can read the days of the week because of power rangers samurai and their elements….
I learned Japanese for 6 years in high school (I'm Aussie, so high school is 6 years). I remember a lot, but not a lot of Kanji or their strokes. It's hard trying to get back into learning it as I'm not sure really where to start. A lot of beginner stuff is too easy, but then intermediate is too hard because I can't read the Kanji.
i come across most of the kanji through being taught chinese here in singapore so is easier to understand the meaning the kanji but not the way it is being said
Can't learn, teacher too gorgeous.
Learning Japanese from an Asian woman who really wants to be white, lol.
I have been learning Japanese for about a year I feel so overwhelmed and I am not learning any Japanese feel like I am struggling
I haven't studied Japanese in so long but this was so incredibly clear, wonderfully paced and engaging. Thank you so much Reina! You're very skilled at explaining in an easy to understand way <3
My mom has been pushing me to learn
My brain shut down by the 2 minute mark of this video….Im never learning kanji lol *sigh
Kanji is actually chinese characters but different pronouncation and some different meaning im actually lucky that my second language is chinese so kanji is easier to learn and i am already struggling to remember chinese characters.
๐๐๐
Thanks you for the kanji lesson. Lots of kanji to learn! Practice reading Japanese, run into kanji, BAM! I am stuuucck! "Mausu mausu pasocon mausu…"
So hard
Any news about Mecha-Ude?
The video:"Monday is getsuyoubi and when this kanji ๆ is alone it is read as tsuki which means moon" *insert other weekdays+kanji here *
My brain:"moon day, fire day, water day, tree day, money day, earth day, day day"
Kanji makes Japanese much easier ! When you see ใใฎใฒใจใฏใซใปใใใใงใ you have to actually read the sentence to understand ! However if you see ใใฎไบบใฏๆฅๆฌไบบใงใ you can quickly understand what's the meaning of the sentence without having to actually read each word and since there is no space in Japanese it males everything much cleaner
Also if you wanna say 1489 in Hiragana you have to say ใใใใใฒใใใฏใกใใ ใใใใ (: however if you use kanji it's ๅๅ็พๅ ซๅไน (: much easier to recognize the number
This reminds me why I changed minors in college lol kanji is so hard and nitpicky ๐ญ
I already learned most of those for my Chinese class (no hating, please, I meant to take Japanese, too ๐, it just collided with the one and only actual course that was mandatory in my last semester :/) so Kanji always feel like a familiar and safe place to me. I usually don't feel that much trouble with stroke orders or knowing what they mean (especially with those basic ones, they often retain quite a similarity to that original picture they were derived from and I seem to have a knack for remembering those) – but the pinyin writings and the pronunciation usually give me a harder time. Those tones really aren't working so well with the way German (or for that matter most roman/Germanic languages) structure an pronounce their sentences ^^'
I saw the face, I clicked.
No no it's a joke.. I really want to study Japanese so don't be spamming my reply section
Thank you for the info Reina sensei ๐๐โค๏ธโค๏ธ๐ฏ๐ต๐ฏ๐ต
ใจใฆใใใคในใชๅ็ปใงใ๏ผI had a lot of trouble with kanji starting out, and I definitely could have used this video! Keep your motivation in mind and set easy-to-reach goals. (*ยดฯ`*) ็ใใใ็ฟใฃใฆใซใใใฐใฃใฆใญใ๐
Kanji are difficult because study methods introduced to all of us are all pretty inefficient. That's why even Japanese people struggle: the methods need a serious update.
Complete mind fuck me Iโll have to watch it again like five times
Hehe Mangetsu is the name of the MC in Granbelm ๐ fitting
I used to think the same way that kanji are useless. But at this point, reading ในใใใใใใ seems so much more difficult than reading ๅๅผทใใ and I am only a beginner. Kanji are actually wonderful
After trying out many sources, finally WaniKani worked for me. It's super fun.
This is literaly what I have left to learn Japanese to the fulles. Kanji is a lot harder to remember then what I expected.
How I learned the days of the week is that:
ๆ is pronounced as Getsu, which means moon. ๆๆๆฅ is basically the day of the moon (or call it moonday)
็ซ is pronounced as Ka, which means fire. ็ซๆๆฅ can be called fire day, or imagine that it gets really hot on tuesdays.
ๆฐด can be called as mizu, but the other reading of this is Sui. ๆฐดๆๆฅ is the day of water. Wednesday starts with w, and you can incorporate that with water (or another technique is to imagine that in order to put out the fire (tuesday), you need water (water).
ๆจ is pronounced as Moku, and the meaning can vary. The kanji means tree, but the from what I've known, thursday is referred to as the day of the wood. If you play tekken, there's this character called Mokujin, which is a wooden dummy. Jin (ไบบ) means person, so basically a wood person.
้ is pronounced as Kin, which means gold. Imagine that every friday, you get paid by your company. You can also imagine that every friday night, you get together with your friends and have a golden moment!
ๅ is pronounced as Do (doh), which means dirt. I would incorporate it with farming, where I imagine harvesting crops every saturday.
ๆฅ is pronounced as Nichi, which means sun. You guessed it, it's sunday!
Another way is to make connections with these kanjis. Let's start with Sunday:
When the ๆฅ sets, the ๆ rises.
When a ็ซ starts, put it out with ๆฐด.
What ๆจ you plant, ้ is what you get from the ๅ.
Also learn radicals. There are about 214 of them, and understanding them will help you understand almost every kanji there is, since they are built by the radicals. Reading the kanji is a different thing though.
I actually got excited when you were counting because I learned that in karate and seem to be incapable of forgetting ๐คฃ I can apparently speak one language and count to ten in four languages, so, there's something cool, I guess
try to add music to your videoes
I'm just now starting to get down my basic Kanji… You're telling me I need to learn 3000+ individual kana, plus the onyomi, and some of them have more than just two pronunciations/uses… ใใ ๐ข
This is awesome!
Me as a Chinese-Canadian in JAPN101 just BREEZING THROUGH the Kanji test… but then tripping up on Kun/On Yomi. ๐
