Dude you need to get a vacume and a better sander. Remember the paint is toxic !
Your right, sailrite has the best videos on so many things, I also did my life line netting this summer on my 32' cooper SV Odysseus and man was it a long tedious two days worth of work, lots of beer and sandwiches lol. But it looks great on the boat now and I am envious of the hot knife you had, I was to impatient to order one after I got my netting and did the whole job with scissors for cutting and used a dang cigarette to melt every single little string, my fingers were real toasty when i got done lol Good Job guys!
CONGRATS ON 50k!! These videos are awesome to watch, we are currently winterizing our 36 foot Beneteau in Michigan, and its awesome to watch other people leaving the dream!
Great episode guys! Glad you made it home safely. That was pretty wild race day – 60 degree heel, wow fun and scary lol. Cheers from PEI Canada, Bryan.
Nice splice work Mr. Salty. You both have come a long way since I followed you on you first trip
🌴☀️⛵️I admire your tenacity!! Fair winds and fine sailing!
Glad to see you put out another video. Was wondering what happened. Thanks for the videos. I always enjoy them!
We want regular videos! Love you guys
Back in the game!
So glad to see you guys back on a boat, working hard to make it better and getting ready to travel. Yay for you!!!!! :)))))) Perseverance and tenacity paid off!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!! Just one question…. what did you do to your eyebrows??????????????????? Why did you girlify them? Just curious!!!! Thank you for sharing.
I ALWAYS look forward to your vids. Great stuff and fair winds.
Nice job of three strand splicing.
Still working on same plan but still far away.. https://youtu.be/zuIP3dTuxJg
Learning to splice and a hot knife? Zoom! Way to level up sailor!
I have been out of the racing scene for a while. Is it a regional thing or is it a time thing that PHRF is now pronounced "PEE AYCH ARE EFF" instead or "PERF"?
Wes should grow a giant sailor “castaway” beard. 😁
Good stuff, like what you two are doing !!! Just one little critique, please keep the camera a little ….. further from your face. We are looking right up your nostrils, not nice. SORRY !Fair winds, always ! Cheers, Bonnie and Wilf ….SV "Warloord" from British Columbia,a black hulled Panda 40 by Perry.
Mates, you both are doing a great job getting your vessel ready! We pirates are very excited for ye to start your journey south!
Good to see her moving again really like this boat
Fantastic
boat is looking real good.
Great video, and your Catalina 30 is looking really sharp! I used Total Boat Spartan on the H410 I bought in Deltaville in May, and have been very pleased with it– it went on smoothly and evenly, coverage was good, and so far it's been doing it's job keeping the critters off the bottom of Magnolia. They didn't give me a discount, though…….
Great to see you guys back again. At this point you are pretty experienced sailors. So please forgive me if I point out something you already know. I noticed your tether lines hooked to a strong point on the rail. If you check out the literature from USCG reports on sailboat drownings you will find a large number of incidents where a sailor was overboard and tethered to a point that allowed him/her to be submerged. Drowning occured as a result of being pulled under the water as the boat dragged the victim under the boat's own wave.. Tethering at a strong point that will not allow you to go overboard reduces or eliminates this risk..Don't forget heeling putting you closer to the water. Best wishes and Fair Winds. Skipping Rhode Island ? That’s where the best sailing action is 🤔
When you add a windlass, contact the people at Quick USA. I got a 800W upright (prev Crystal model) for just over $400 brand new. Bought two of them for my own Catalina 30 (I like having spares). Had a Lewmar 700W before that which was seized up (from prev owner). The Quick is a stump puller. I bought it for my 35 lb. Rocna type anchor. Contact Quick USA, located in MD. I bet they may even help sponsor the windlass.
congrads on youre splicing it looks good >>however I would not feel confident with rope to chain without the steel eyelet that prevents chafing youre set up in high winds or storm could chafe and fail within HRs re think re do >>practice makes perfect great seeing you guys again
The fumes smell great! Hilarious.
Grat video, guys! Happy to help you out!
It's not normal or necessary to grease cables. They don't need lubrication as any friction is removed by the pulleys in the system. The danger with adding grease to the cables is that it attracts dirt and grit. This gets into the cable strands and causes wear. If you feel you must put something on them use something that dries. Lanolin used to be a traditional way of protecting non-stainless cables before stainless was used.
