Covid-19: Spain's emergency measures impact Gibraltar's frontier

by Travel Ambassador | Mar 21, 2020 | Guides | 2 comments

The Spanish authorities are only allowing people to enter Spain if they have an acceptable justification for doing so. This follows a decree establishing a State of Emergency in Spain because of the COVID-19 outbreak, which prohibits non-essential travel within Spain.

These include having an official residence in Spain, whether permanent or holiday – or employment. Proof is required when crossing the frontier. Those who are not able to provide it, are not being allowed through.

Those entering Gibraltar from Spain must also demonstrate that they are complying with the reasons laid out under the new state of emergency law. Ros Astengo was at the frontier on Sunday (15th March).
