British Virgin Island Sailing – The Bubbly Pool March 2019

Welcome Sailors!

On day 3 of our BVI Charter we leave Great Harbor on Jost Van Dyke in the morning and head up the coast to the east end of the island to another anchorage. Here we check out Fox’s Taboo Bar and take a hike to the world famous Bubbly Pool. The Bubbly Pool is open to the Atlantic Ocean and huge swells come in and form a natural hot tub or bubbly pool. On this trip it was fairly calm but we still had a few waves come in to give us a thrill.

On the hike to the pool we noticed that Hurricane Irma had totally wiped out all the mangrove trees that used to line the trail to the pool. After our hike we came back to Foxy’s Taboo and had a few Margaritas before heading back to the boat. We noticed new bathrooms and a new foundation were under construction for a new Foxy’s Taboo Bar. Can’t wait to see what the new place looks like.

We came back to the boat and relaxed a bit and took a quick snorkel before having dinner. What a great day with family and friends!

Make sure to check out our next video as we head to Virgin Gorda to hike through the Baths and then onto Leverick Bay in the North Sound where we spend the night.

Yole Sailing on Martinique’s Caribbean Coast – Ep 1/4

Martinique / Saint Lucia launches with an adrenaline-pumping day of racing traditional Yole sail boats. The adventure starts off the island’s east coast, an hour or so from Fort-de-France. Moving at high speeds and dangling precariously over emerald waters — these boats are designed to stay afloat only while in motion: in other words, if the boat stops, it sinks! Our teacher and pro-racer Jean-Yves Aglae teaches ers the technical ins-and-outs of Martinique’s most popular sport (the Le Tour de Yoles Rondes is the largest sporting event on the island). The race culminates at the gorgeous and secluded “Oscar Island.” There, we kick back and enjoy the evening and massage sore muscles. What a way to start the trip: heart-pumping activity, gorgeous Caribbean waters, a crimson sunset — and a mouth full of sand for Sarah. 😉

NEXT EPISODE, Sarah organizes a day with a Martinique Carnival Marching Band. It’s sweaty, loud, colourful and erupts into a flash-mob in the streets:
