It was a crazy scene 4th of July 2016 in Huntington Beach CA. I have lived here all my life and never have seen sooooo many people ( and drunk) like smashed! Also this year you could purchase and use fireworks in town that I have noticed a few stands selling them. Combine that with illegal fireworks, like for me it was maybe this video idea might not be so smart all of a sudden when the sun went down. It seemed liked something was about to get crazy dangerous! I found a pretty cool safe zone where this video is being recorded from. Back against the condo’s on the beach along a section where nobody could come up from behind and blow me up with some M-80’s or something? The event was pretty cool I thought, and lasted for quite sometime! This video contains the full show, it started at about 9:01p.m PST, sunset was about 8:07p.m. The weather was basically perfect with no cloud cover at the time of event. Air temperature at this time was about low 70’s, and the wind was very light to calm which made for perfect conditions. Kind of lucky considering the low cloud cover has been so consistent last few months at the Southern California beaches, night and morning hours mostly. I did not hang out for very long after this, but I guess everybody stayed pretty good? Pacific Coast Highway and surrounding streets were all closed to car traffic. It was an unbelievable site, like a sea of what looked to me millions of people packed in for miles inland, most with fireworks in hand and seemed like trouble was going to break out any second! Despite orders to get out of the water, there were a few surfers out there getting more than a front row seat! I noticed them getting out of the water wet with their surfboards. The surf was also pretty good, 3-7 foot wave faces from the south with a water temp about 70 degree’s. Huntington Beach Pier is one of the best night surfing places in the world due to its pier lighting, and the direction it faces to the incoming ocean swells. It use to be actually a lot better in the old days because the lights were much brighter reaching white, then changed to that darker amber color, they’re now back to white but I think “LED’s” which are very bright to look at but do not put out much light to reach the water to see as clearly I think. If you notice in this video the pier lights were turned off just before, so those surfer guys had it very dark out there for awhile with no moon! The H4 looks and surfs different to any other fin. Precision Swiss engineering matched with a highly evolved template provides an unprecedented level of control and predictability at high speeds.
While the science behind the template, the materials and the foils are highly complex, every component of this fin has been engineered to create a simple synergy between the fin and the surfboard, the rider and the wave.
